How this site works
Editorial policy
Who writes this, how it is checked, how mistakes get fixed, and what this site does and does not earn money from.
Who writes it
Every recipe, chapter and note on this site is written by Reshmi R Nair and is drawn from the book The Kerala Plate. There is no syndicated content, no outsourced filler and no article written to catch a search term. If a page exists here, it exists because it belongs in the book.
How recipes are developed
Recipes are cooked before they are published. Quantities are recorded by weight during testing, not reconstructed afterwards from memory. Where a traditional dish has been altered — less salt, a different rice, coconut used differently — the recipe says so plainly in a short note explaining what changed and why, rather than presenting the altered version as the traditional one. Readers are owed that distinction.
How the numbers are checked
Nutrition figures are derived from published composition tables rather than estimated by eye or generated automatically. The full method, the data sources and the limitations are set out on the evidence page, including the cases where a figure is deliberately omitted because it could not be sourced with confidence.
Corrections
Cookbooks contain errors, and a site that claims otherwise is not being honest. If you find a quantity that does not work, a method step that is wrong, or a nutrition figure that looks implausible, please report it. Corrections are made to the page itself rather than appended as a footnote, because a reader arriving tomorrow needs the corrected version, not a record of the mistake.
Advertising, sponsorship and affiliate links
This site carries no advertising, no sponsored recipes and no affiliate links. No brand has paid for a mention, and no ingredient recommendation has been bought. The only commercial relationship is the book itself: if you buy The Kerala Plate, the author earns a royalty. Every recipe in the book is on this site, free, whether you buy it or not.
Artificial intelligence
The recipes, the chapters and the editorial judgement in the book are the author's. AI tools were used in building and maintaining this website — the code, the layout, the search index and the structured data — and are disclosed here rather than left implied.
Photography
Photographs are licensed from Adobe Stock and are representative of each dish rather than photographs of the specific recipe as tested. Each recipe page states this beneath its image. This is disclosed because the alternative — letting a stock photograph imply a tested result — would be a small dishonesty repeated 137 times.
